Historia e Biografia Angel Witch

 

Angel Witch é uma banda britânica de heavy metal formada em 1977. Foram parte do movimento New Wave Of British Heavy Metal junto com bandas como Iron Maiden e Judas Priest.

A banda foi fundada com o nome de Lucifer e inicialmente composta pelo guitarrista Kevin Heybourne, o guitarrista Bob Downing, baixista Kevin Riddles e o baterista Dave Hogg. O nome mudou para Angel Witch após a saída do guitarrista Bob. Ela foi seguidora do estilo do Black Sabbath, sobretudo na parte lírica. Lançaram o primeiro álbum, homônimo, em 1980 e encerram suas atividades temporariamente.

A banda voltou a atividade em 1982, quando Heybourne recrutou dois músicos da banda Deep Machine, o vocalista Roger Marsden e o baixista Ricky Bruce, mais o baixista Jerry Cunningham. Logo Marsden foi "despedido" da banda e Heybourne reassumiu os vocais. No ano de 1983 a banda encerrou novamente as atividades.

Em 1984, o Angel Witch renasce, agora com a ajuda do baixista Peter Gordelier, o vocalista Dave Tattum e o retorno de Dave Hogg à bateria. Com essa gravaram o álbum Screamin' N' Bleedin', em 1985. Dave Hogg deixa a banda mais uma vez e foi substituído por Spencer Hollman. Com o novo baterista eles gravam em 1986 o álbum Frontal Assault, com canções mais melódicas. Em 1989 eles gravaram um álbum ao vivo, Live.

No ano de 2001, a banda ainda se encontrava em atividade e fazendo concertos. Em 2012 lançaram o álbum As Above So Below. Fonte: Wikipédia.
